My studies in movement, anatomy, kinesthetic awareness and bodywork began over 15 years ago at the start of an international dance career where I performed with Mark Morris Dance Group, The Erick Hawkins Dance Company and Canada's Royal Winnipeg Ballet.
At one point, a neck injury nearly sidelined my career, but the therapeutic support of a massage therapist got me out of the wings and back on stage. That healing event sparked my interest in injury rehabilitation, which evolved into a curiosity about the neuromuscular connections in the body, the connection of thoughts and emotions that create conscious and unconscious movement patterns. These habits often perpetuate cycles of pain, movement restrictions and dysfunction.
In 2002, I retired from dancing professionally and moved to Ithaca to attend The Finger Lakes School of Massage. After graduation, I worked for Bodyworks.
In 2005, I established The Articulate Body. I consider myself a partner in your unique healing process. By creating a warm and welcoming environment, I invite open communication. My experience allows me to offer a customized experience that integrates various modalities coupled with body awareness instruction.
The natural beauty of Ithaca’s gorges, its eclectic art scene, and the unfettered compassion of Ithacans in general are a constant inspiration. I invite you to join The Articulate Body in supporting one or more of the organizations that make Ithaca an incredible place to live, learn, play and grow.

Leslie A. Wright, LMT
With over 6 years experience as a licensed massage therapist, Leslie has a deep understanding of the variety of ways stress impacts people’s lives. Working at Stress Out Day Spa for four years allowed her to work on a variety of clients who each had individual needs and an idea of how they wanted to benefit from the experience. Leslie is very comfortable and skilled with providing massage that applies firm pressure to “really get in there” and work on your sore joints and muscles.
Leslie’s work is guided by her her knowledge and conviction that massage therapy can greatly relieve the stresses, aches, and pains of everyday busy lives and leave us feeling lighter, happier, at ease, and more in tune with our bodies. A graduate of the Fingerlakes School of Massage, she is knowledgeable and skilled in a variety of modalities including Connective Tissue Therapy, Deep Tissue Massage, Lymph Drainage Massage, Trigger Point Therapy, Pregnancy Massage and Swedish Massage.
When not busy with her practice, Leslie is engaged by a variety of interests including a love of all animals (most especially dogs and horses) and an enjoyment of outdoor activities such as kayaking and hiking.
